Local musicians raise funds for Haiti

South African musicians are using their voices to help raise money for victims of the earthquake that rocked Haiti over a month ago.

The MAD 4 Haiti concert will take place at Carnival City next month.

It started with a posting on social network site Facebook between singer Lionel Bastos and a friend of his about wanting to do something about the tragedy.

Bastos said the support from local artists was overwhelming.

“It’s wonderful that everyone wants to take part, I mean the response has been amazing.”

He said the event had been in the pipeline for some time.

Artists like PJ Powers, Denim, Tasha Baxter, Little Sister, and former Isidingo star Emmanuel Castis will perform.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be paid into a trust that will go towards disaster relief in Haiti.
